Greetings from Rosholt School Foodservice Department!
You may have heard that there are new requirements for school meals. Most of the new rules have been in effect for the 2012-13 school year, with more requirements likely to come in 2013-14.
Students are required to take a fruit or vegetable in order for their lunch to count as a full meal. At least fifty percent of all grains offered must be whole grain rich. Calorie maximums have also been placed on meals served, based on grade levels. By 2014 schools must also meet stricter sodium limits.
Our school is striving to meet the requirements as they are presented to us and creating a meal appealing to the varied students’ tastes. We offer a variety of menu choices as well as a full salad bar each day. Some of the offerings on our salad bar include a romaine/iceberg lettuce mix, purple cabbage, cucumbers, shredded carrots, carrot sticks, celery sticks, shredded cheddar/mozzarella blend, and newly added, fresh spinach.
Please encourage your child to try new things at home and at school. Also, feel free to join your child for lunch.
If you have any questions or concerns, please stop by, call 715-677-4542 ext. 314 or email me hobemben@rosholt.k12.wi.us.
Thank you,
Holly Bembenek
