Principal's Corner

As we near a new school year I just wanted to take a moment or two to update everyone on some of the initiatives we will be tackling this school year.  First, we are continuing the implementation of PBIS.  PBIS is a systematic approach of teaching students proper behaviors, and discouraging negative behaviors.  The PBIS Committee has developed a set of common expectations for our students.  The goal this year will be to implement fully that first level of expectations and interventions.  Parents should notice that teachers will be sharing lessons that deal with targeted behavior issues.  One great example of the development of clear expectations and goals is the creation of student projects around the issue of tardiness.  Students in Mrs. Fuge's Media class created a wonderful explanation of how and why students should be to class on time.  This will be viewed by all Rosholt High School students at the beginning of the school year.

A second major initiative is the integration of what are called Common Core Standards.  Simply, these are clear standards in Language Arts and Mathematics.  Teachers, of all courses, will be clearly stating what students are to learn each day.  It is the expectation that all homework and classwork will focus on the learning objective and/or Common Core Standard.

Above are only a couple of the initiatives we will be focusing on this coming school year.  As always I happy to get feedback from the community.  So please feel free to contact me or drop me an email.  Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I am looking forward to a great new year.
