Cancellation of School for Weather or Other Emergencies
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the procedure the Rosholt School District follows in closing school because of adverse weather conditions. On those days when the district has either had advance warning of adverse weather or the weather seems especially threatening, the Transportation Supervisor and Building and Grounds Supervisor begin checking weather reports and local road conditions at 5:00 a.m. The announcement to cancel all school classes and activities completely or to delay school starting by at least one hour and no more than two hours will be placed with the following radio stations:
-
WSPT - 97.9 FM • WOZZ - 94.7 FM
-
WSAU - 55.0 AM • WIFC - 95.5 FM
-
WLJY - 96.7 FM • WOSQ - 92.3 FM
-
WYTE - 106.5 FM • WDLB - 1450 AM
-
WDEZ - 101.9 FM • WDUX - 92.7 FM
This will also be broadcasted on WAOW-TV 9 Wausau and WSAW-TV 7 Wausau.
Unless specifically stated all evening activities and practices for a full day cancellation or mid day cancellation will be cancelled. Evening school activities and practices for a one hour or two hour delayed start of school generally will not be cancelled. If inclement weather is threatening and school closes during the day, at least one hour will elapse between the time of the decision to close and the time the buses will leave. This will also be placed with the radio stations to notify parents as to what time the children will be leaving school.
Absenteeism From School Because of Severe Weather: Because the district provides transportation for all youngsters, staying home from school because of adverse weather conditions is generally not considered a valid excuse for being absent from school. However, on those occasions when the bus is not able to get through to transport your children, this is considered to be an acceptable excuse for staying home.
